Personality Lock

Anchored Traits That Reduce Drift

Personality drift can make an AI companion change tone or behave inconsistently. Kaylio stores a character card and applies it to each text response to help keep core traits recognizable. Generated behavior can still vary with context or model changes.

Character Cards

Every Kaylio companion is defined by a character card — a structured personality profile that includes traits, values, speaking style, interests, boundaries, and relationship dynamics. This card is a durable reference applied to each text response.

Kaylio stores a character card and applies it on each response to anchor core traits, tone, values, and boundaries. This is designed to reduce drift across conversations, but it cannot guarantee identical behavior after every prompt or model update.

Once you design a companion, its core traits, values, and boundaries are stored as a personality signature. Text responses are generated with that signature in context; voice is paused during beta validation.

Why Consistency Matters

Continuity depends on recognizable behavior. Anchored traits give the model a stable reference while acknowledging that AI output can still vary.

You can lock in as much or as little as you want. Choose archetype, temperament, communication style, humor level, and boundaries. You can also define their backstory, goals, and relationship to you.

  • Archetype: mentor, friend, partner, study buddy, etc.
  • Temperament: calm, energetic, witty, nurturing, etc.
  • Communication style: concise, expressive, formal, casual.
  • Boundaries: topics your companion will avoid or gently redirect.

Customization Without Compromise

Choose a preset archetype, or configure a custom companion at creation on eligible plans. The same stored traits continue to guide later responses, while model output can still vary.

Personality anchors matter because useful continuity depends on predictability. They reduce abrupt changes without claiming perfect consistency or human emotion.

This can be useful for reflective conversation, coaching-style prompts, or consensual roleplay. The goal is a recognizable conversational style across sessions, not a claim of perfect consistency or human presence.
